Traffic Tickets
Ontario. Traffic ticket in Ontario can cost you a lot of money. The fine on the ticket is usually a very minimal amount, but the problem is
not the fine amount.
The fine amount is usually a very minimal amount, sometime as low as
$40. But if you choose to pay that fine, (that means your a
pleading guilty of the charge) the cost to you will not just be a
low $40. Now what you have done is registered a conviction on
your drivers abstract which will stay with you on your record for
three full years from the conviction date.
If you are asking yourself "well its just a minor conviction, how
much can this really affect my insurance?". Then you must have
had a clean driving record and this must be your first conviction.
When you get a conviction, its sent to the Ministry of
Transportation, which is where it will be sent out to your insurance
company. When it comes time for you to renew your insurance
policy chances are you will need to prepare yourself for a hike in
your insurance rates. Each conviction registered to your
license will increase you insurance rates. Each conviction is
not equal. There are minor convictions and there are major
convictions. Major convictions would obviously have a greater
affect on your insurance rates. The way it works is like this;
the insurance companies have to be able to give you a premium based
on information they have about you and your car and other factors.
The
more convictions you have on your record, to more of a high-risk
driver you will be to the insurance companies. Which
translates into higher premiums for you. |
